Don't mean to complicate your life any but are there any updates on your castle plans or land purchasing?
Galla
Actually because of waiting for some other items to come through, we were put on hold until Spring (at least). The land we want is still available (has been for years), and we have been slowly working on reworking the layout and basic plans for the site.

Still have some of the same goals and functions, but have taken a few away and added others. I know it is all a bit vague, but as the weather cools and everything is put away here, it will be easier to give more details. Just working on getting all of our debts paid off and put as much as possible back for the project. Still looking through grant applications and such to make sure all our ducks are in a row before the land is purchased.

We have been able to get clearance for many of the projects we are wanting on the site, and still checking with fees and other responsibilities for the breaking ground. So coming together, albeit much slower than had been anticipated.

Thanks for the update laughlong.gif
Sometimes it feels like there is no forward movement on our project but where it is concerned I seem to be far too impatient and forget to count the little stuff that will make up the whole.
As long there is something happening I should be happy, I just lose site of that fact often looking into the larger scale of things.

Been battling very similiar here. Want things to get done and very impatient to be so, but I also realize that things need to be done in an orderly fashion so we won't have to go back to redo anything. Why the space allotments will be very important as well - want to be happy with them, and make sure we will have the funds (current or future) to complete the project.

I find little ways of keeping on track. Devote a couple of hours a week to research or finding materials we are wanting to use, have pics on my desktop of the site, so always in my mind. Keeping focus has got to be the hardest for me. LOL
Duncan
Meg and I I agree with you completely that its very important to make plans to have the funds and to have the plans in order to be able to complete the project . We think both are a necessity.

Just like the other evening. We were eating dinner at a restaurant after doing errands in Bartlesville and Meg popped a new, new to me any way, floor plan addition and in a very very few words explained why it had to be done that way. yikes.gif This amounts to a major rewrite and/or addition somewhere to the plans. Thats one reason why I haven't had them copied and posted as I mentioned I was going to do in my update topic.

I keep focus ok, its the impatience that drives me nuts which in-turn bop345.gif drives Meg nuts too.

For me the research never ends. It happens everyday no matter where I'm at or even when I'm delving in the past just reading about a non related topic, something always pops up.
I've got papers scattered all over, computers with uncountable files, images and pictures every where.
And notes...all over the place, even in our vehicles there are notes laying about.

I've got near 3 ton of Pozzalon in 6 - 55 gallon drums in our back yard that every time I see them its a reminder I have more work to do and when I can't do that work it really makes me impatient!! jump1.gif

Yep definately hard on the patience thing. William is the same way about the plans. He wants to make sure all is good before redrawing the final, so will post when we actually can decide on what is needed (secret passages can be a good thing, but not the whole place!)

As long as we can all keep our eyes on the end goals, things will fall into place as they deem fit. eee.gif
Duncan
I agree about the end goals very much.

Our plans are finalized, until a change is needed that is!

On the secrete passages thingy. In a Irish castle we were at had wall chambers, narrow wall passages and wall stair ways with doors all over the place.
more in fact then my plans has!
Galla
LOL I would need a map just to navigate! We are looking to make a trip into Wales and the UK before building to get more ideas and just a general ambience of it all. Figure that would be best and see what we like and what we don't. Those spiral staircases are awesome, but travelling up on is a whole different story....
Duncan
If we can be of any assistance on you trip planning please let us know.
Andrew, Meg and I can supply many little details that might be assistance in castles and driving over there.

Renting a car with a standard transmission is cheaper but you should practice before trying to shift with the left hand, road signs and knowing how to use a round-a- bout and what a "sausage" does to traffic is very important.
The effects can be extremely interesting!!

Sorry for getting off topic and I've moved Laureens and my edited post to

Thanks! Definately will let you all know when we can get finalized. Doubt it would be before next spring or summer. I don't deal with cold well, so hoping to find a good time to go when it is more fall type weather. A good inbetween.

We have friends over in Wales from a ship project - the Newport Ship @ 1450 B.C. - that we worked on from here. We have been offered a holiday cottage for our leisure, but thinking I would rather do the B&B thing. More than likely have the kids along and wouldn't want to chance them getting into anything either. LOL

Forgot that they drove on the opposite side of the road...hmm... does make a difference I am sure. As only I drive when William and I are out together, guess I better get those muscles going now. tounge.gif I am pretty sure we will use any advice you would have to give, and appreciate it greatly.

Also working on getting some pics of castle, monastic and medieval & Renaissance garden prints and pictures up and working. I have been working on locating several and will be working on getting them into some similiance of organization. Thinking it would be well worth working on. Any ideas, let me know.
