I wish to thank a personal friend for all his help and for selling me the complete works of David MacGibbon and Thomas Ross.

No. Mercat Press is still on the go, it was it's parent company James Thin that went into administration, and was taken over by Blackstock.
Mercat Press is trading as an independant publisher, though I don't think Jamie Thin of the original company is involved.

The last I spoke to Jamie, things were in total dishevel and he wasn't sure Mercat was going to survive, thanks for clearing things up.

I remember you telling me about your lengthy conversations with him, he seemed a nice guy despite the pressure at the time. Amazon really have a lot to answer for, Edinburgh had James Thin, Glasgow has John Smith, both sank because they couldn't compete with with a world wide organization.

In Jamie's problems it wasn't so much the competition but the business practice of the larger corporation that sank him.
Your right and I literally bought the last book printed by him and deeper then that I wont go.
I remember him calling several times and asking me if I was certain I wanted him to ship the books due to the cost, the freight cost shocked him I guess.

You bought both sets, and that amounts to what? Eight Volumes, weighing about 2.5lbs each, 20lbs to ship to the states.......The Royal Mail must've thought it was Xmas!
