This home is some where in Oklahoma, I don't know the owner but he was nice enough to let me take a few pictures from his drive way.
If he or someone he knows wishes to have me put up more details I will be more then happy too.

Well it's quite an improvement over that crap in Mass. What struck you the most about it?

I liked the stone first off.
The design reminds me of the castles of Europe that had been transformed into mansions or the actual castles with newer roofs added on that hid the battlements.
I also liked the spiral stair case with windows all be it larger then arrow slits.
The gate house for a front door seemed well designed and the Oriel projection over the vehicle gate was a good thought too.
I think it was the over all effect that struck me the most, admittedly it's not quite a Folly but more of a mansion and a private home.
We are seeing more of this type being built in the US now a days and at least it wasn't being called a castle, Thank Heaven.

Right. It's a hellof a lot better than that Mass "folly". ::no-no.gif
In your opinion, is this type of architecture becoming more popular? What do you think? Are we on teh brink of "Castle-mania" yet, or do you think it will remain subdued?

This home is well into the 3 or 5 + (?) Million mark so I think things will stay a wee bit subdued for a while.
It is becoming more popular and in my opinion only because it represents the old world wealth found in Europe.
But then again they may just like the design too.
This house on the whole has lots of potential of being very castle folly orientated.
If certain construction methods were used the price could be kept down also.
With miner adjustments and somewhat different approaches to the out side walls it could be a castle and I suspect the over all appearance was chosen from several real ones very likely in France.
