Repair work to castle damp damage

Work is being carried out to repair part of Jersey's Elizabeth Castle.
The Jersey Heritage Trust said water is damaging a turret, and scaffolding has been erected around the north east corner to assess what work is needed.
Trust Director Jon Carter said: "The scaffolding is around a 'pepper pot', which is a sentry box that was built in about 1668.
"Water is getting into brickwork through the lead dome roof, which has a piece missing."
Work began on Elizabeth Castle during the 1550s. It was bought by the States of Jersey in 1923.

Repairing the lead roof shouldn't take too long but the internal damage may be a different story.
