Continued from the other topic.
The only thing I can think of to add IMO is a Kilt alone looks ...well...like a skirt!
Its better to wear the knee socks and a Jacobean shirt with one.
I prefer the older every day kilt which is a different style all together and I do not know of any one who makes those except us and the company in Glasgow. His is at a higher price then the regular dress Kilt used today!
In the time frame I'm in referencing to if you wore shoes they were a boot type called a brogan made of leather and/or a heavy canvas material. Very reminiscent of the military Jungle Boot of today.
Socks were sort of used and sort of not depending on many things.
A (usually about 2 to 3 inches wide) leather weapons belt was worn normally with sword and dagger and a eating/hold out dagger somewhere most often in a boot top sheath.
The clasp on the over the shoulder part of the kilt (which is a separate piece of material and was used as blanket amongst other things) was at this time in history just a broach and not a clan clasp.
The bonnet and eagle feathers, (which was a badge of rank - 1 feather was a lieutenant and two was the chieftain of the clan) the basket hilt Claymore sword, kilt colors, fancy clasps, shoes, Argyle socks, ruffles/lace and more of that ilk came about in the 14 century.
