Continued from the other topic.

The only thing I can think of to add IMO is a Kilt alone looks ...well...like a skirt!
Its better to wear the knee socks and a Jacobean shirt with one.

I prefer the older every day kilt which is a different style all together and I do not know of any one who makes those except us and the company in Glasgow. His is at a higher price then the regular dress Kilt used today!

In the time frame I'm in referencing to if you wore shoes they were a boot type called a brogan made of leather and/or a heavy canvas material. Very reminiscent of the military Jungle Boot of today.
Socks were sort of used and sort of not depending on many things.
A (usually about 2 to 3 inches wide) leather weapons belt was worn normally with sword and dagger and a eating/hold out dagger somewhere most often in a boot top sheath.
The clasp on the over the shoulder part of the kilt (which is a separate piece of material and was used as blanket amongst other things) was at this time in history just a broach and not a clan clasp.

The bonnet and eagle feathers, (which was a badge of rank - 1 feather was a lieutenant and two was the chieftain of the clan) the basket hilt Claymore sword, kilt colors, fancy clasps, shoes, Argyle socks, ruffles/lace and more of that ilk came about in the 14 century.

Sorry, I hadnt read everything carefully I maybe I missed sothing - looks like theres no real easysolution to our acountant wanting a kilt? He'snot going to pay 10K for it. Wouldnt pay 1 K for it Im sure.
Ill talk to him - what do you suggest I tell him?("tough luck, bud- go find your own") biggrin.gif
Duncan
No not really, just follow some of the links and find a ball park figure he would pay.
I wouldn't pay any thing of the sort either! Thats ridiculous, 10,000 dollars sheesh!
If I can get some time I'll go have a look on the web too.
Laureen
you can get kilts from a number of sources. Just do a google search...chilvary sports has them too. Can't vouche for the authenticity but they look good and would be less expensive.

Im going to tell him to do a google search next time I see him. That should be in a couple weeks. Right now hes busy recovering from stress incurred at the end-of-tax-season period.

I asked him if he wanted it regular or "mini".
He looked at me funny. It was comical.
I think he asked me "what? they come in mini size too?" laughlong.gif

I faxed the info in the above post to my accountant - it would be really funny if he does get one. He's a heavy guy.

We call him "tax bastard" lovingly.

if that doesnt ring a bell then you have successfully steered yourself clear of bad American movies like "Austin Powers".
Duncan
So far I've successfully cries.gif steered away from any movie that we didn't rent this year.
